YOU GUYSSSSS – I was on TV today! So exciting to be a guest on one of our very own Internet Fame members’ shows (say hi to the fabulous Melissa Fassel Dunn, the hostess with the mostest of Broad Appeal!)
We had an awesome time chatting, laughing, and talking business. One of the tidbits I shared was that there are 3 key components to an effective website (that anyone can do without hassle). And by effective, I mean gets leads – because remember people – that 👏 is 👏 what 👏 your 👏 website 👏 is 👏 supposed 👏 to 👏 do. 👏
#1 – COMMUNICATE WHO YOU ARE AS A BUSINESS.
Sometimes, it’s obvious to us who we are as a business (ie. I’m a “Brand Expert” and so if you go to my site, you find that out pretty quickly.) Knowing what type of business this is seems elementary, but sometimes it can actually be hard to tell if it’s not made overtly clear.
#2 – IDENTIFY YOUR TARGET.
Who you help is the second big key. Your copy is geared to and written for this person (or persons – if you have multiple audiences) – so speaking directly to them in the writing is impactful. If you target women entrepreneurs, don’t dance around the issue. Come right out and say it.
#3 – WHAT PROBLEM DO YOU SOLVE?
This one might take you a sec – but I’m willing to bet there is a primary problem you solve as a business. Do you know what that is? If you’re not sure – consider your services. What do you actually do in exchange for money? How does that make the customer’s life better? Answer those questions and you’ll walk right into the problem you solve.
