About Rebecca

Rebecca Matchett is a serial entrepreneur with a proven track record in building brands that scale, resonate, and disrupt. She was a co-founder of alice+olivia, naming it after her mom Alice and her partner’s mom Olivia, where she helped grow the company from a startup into a global fashion powerhouse. She went on to launch TrioFit, a patented bra-fitting technology that filled a gap in the market with the innovative problem-solving technology. Now, she’s setting her sights on something far more personal: reimagining how neurodivergent adults find connection, friendship, and belonging.

Her newest venture, synchrony, launching in January 2026, is the first app of its kind, a structured, AI-assisted social platform created specifically for neurodivergent adults. The app blends thoughtful technology with emotionally informed design to bridge one of the most overlooked social divides in the tech space today: the isolation many neurodivergent adults experience long after their support systems from school or family fall away.

Episode Highlights:

  • Liz Theresa welcomes Rebecca Matchett, founder of Synchrony, a new social app dedicated to neurodivergent adults—designed to fight isolation, foster authentic community, and ease communication challenges.
  • Rebecca Matchett shares the inspiration behind Synchrony, rooted in her partnership with a mother of an autistic adult and Britt, an autism specialist. Together, they aim to build an inclusive “dream team” to serve an underserved community.
  • Synchrony uses an AI chat assist, “Jesse,” to help decode messages and support users in navigating social situations and online conversations. The AI is named after Jesse, one of the inspirations for the project.
  • The app isn’t only for autistic adults. Rebecca clarifies the broad definition of neurodivergence—embracing ADHD, anxiety, communication disorders, and more. No official diagnosis is required: if you identify as neurodivergent, Synchrony is for you.
  • Safety & authenticity are priorities. Synchrony uses a referral system (not limited to doctors; family, friends, or guardians can recommend users) and requires ID for second-level verification to maintain a trusted and supportive environment.
  • Liz and Rebecca discuss the flaws of mainstream platforms like Facebook, especially the proliferation of bots, arguing for quality over quantity and deeper connection over ad-driven engagement.
  • On the origin of the name “Synchrony”: Rebecca describes it as symbolizing harmony, togetherness, and community—a challenging naming process that ultimately landed perfectly.
  • Rebecca shares her entrepreneurial journey as a founder of Alice & Olivia and Triofit, and her unique perspective as someone who starts businesses outside her experience to bring fresh, creative energy to each project.
  • The future vision for Synchrony includes not only growing an online platform, but also expanding into offline events and exploring opportunities within universities and institutions. White-labeling for campus communities is already being explored.
  • The episode touches on the national loneliness epidemic. Rebecca explains the acute challenges neurodivergent adults face in forming lasting relationships once childhood and teen support systems fall away, emphasizing Synchrony’s mission to create independence and connection in adulthood.
  • Liz and Rebecca wrap up with thoughts on creativity, partnership, and advice for building something authentic and impactful.
